When a booked car is worth it

Night arrivals (the taxi queue can be long and drivers sometimes refuse long trips), children who need car seats, a group of 4–9 with luggage, or a stop on the way. Otherwise the public taxi counter or an app is the cheaper choice.

To central Bangkok

The Airport Rail Link runs from the airport basement to Phaya Thai in about 30 minutes; metered public taxis leave from level 1 and add tolls and an airport fee. A booked car with a name sign costs $50 for a sedan at any hour.
